The Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPPD)

The Canada Pension Plan Disability (CPPD)

The Canada Pension Plan (CPPD) offers a monthly payment for people who are unable to work due to a long-term disability and have contributed enough to the CPP. To qualify you must have a severe and prolonged physical or mental condition that prevents you from working. The amount you receive is based on your past contributions to the CPP and may change according to Canadian laws.

To qualify for the CPP disability benefit, you must meet these requirements:

Be under the age of 65.

Be unable to perform any type of regular employment as a result of your disability.

Suffer from a serious and long-term physical or mental condition.

Have made enough contributions to the CPP.

The amount of disability varies from person to person, but the maximum benefit is approximately $1400 per month, and it will be back dated to 11 months prior to the date of receiving the application.

There will be other benefits for those with dependents which is called child provision in which the individual will receive more benefits for each dependent.
